Aug. 19th, 2009 04:24 pmI don't really talk about this much, but things have happened recently that have me thinking. Actually, I have a lot of time to think out here on the road. There isn't much else to do. Anyway, this country's seen two things it shouldn't have recently. Your prince got kidnapped, and then a boat full of your leaders got raided by pirates.
It's not really a secret I'm seen as a bit of a bad guy. Me and Gebann both, I guess. We've both been bandits. Most people read that, and think it's all black and white. We're bandits so we enjoy going around and taking things from other people instead of earning it ourselves. We haven't stolen anything in this country though. All the money we've made here's been legit. Every single copper of it, too.
Everything Gebann and I did was only so that we could keep on living. There were times when it was exciting, and there were times when it was fun. I'm not going to lie about that. Then there were some times when all the shit just got too real. I don't know. I can't steal from anyone I can put a face to, and sometimes the merchants we stole from gave us a good look at what their lives were like. I wasn't going to starve the next day, I wouldn't have taken anything.
There are guys out there who do that kind of thing to survive, and there are some guys out there who are just sick. I'm not going to tell you not to stab them, because if you're being robbed you should stick up for yourself. I'm just saying that some of us aren't doing it because it's fun.
